Restaurant of the Central Litterateurs' House
Restaurant "CDL"

The city legend, the only restaurant-museum, where main traditions of Russian and soviet cuisine are fused with historical interior environment and special atmosphere of the Central Authors' House.
The Restaurant of the Central Authors' House is a legendary place. In 1960's it hosted a famous snack-bar for the soviet writers with a very strict access control mode. The most well-known authors – like Eugeny Evtushenko and Bella Akhmadulina – rejoined here. Todays' "Motley Hall" of the restaurant still keeps on its walls the autographs and drawings by writers and poets "the Sixtiers". Nowadays the CDL restaurant is a museum and a place open for all those who love authentic Russian cuisine: simple, familiar, colourfully served.
About the Restaurant
Some of the Restaurant's best-sellers are marinated stuffed carp, pike-perch in aspic, pearl hen pate in glazed apple, chicken wings stuffed with veal, porcini mushroom soup, classical "Stolichny" salad, warm salad with eggplant and cream-cheese, minced mutton chop, rabbit in crimson sauce with sweet turnip and fried chanterelle, potatoes and beef tenderloin, serves right in a frying pan. The CDL desserts are also all author's: the "Kievsky" cake with nut ice cream and the Kremlin cheesecakes are the absolute hits.
The CDL concept is based on Russian and Soviet feast traditions. Chef Oleg Kleymenov is a real guru of the Russian cuisine. Previously he worked in such restaurants as "Bochka" and "Ermak" and also opened up the "Hussar" restaurant which is now replaced by "Dom Carlo". In 2009 when "Bochka" was closed for renovation he found himself for the first time in CDL restaurant as an intern to then-chef Alexander Popov, and ten in 2017 he came back to take charge of the kitchen himself.

Oleg Kleymenov
The CDL restaurant is called a museum without exaggeration. The furniture and interior design items are selected to reconstruct accurately the atmosphere of Moscow aristocratic mansion and family saloon, which was located here in older times. During the reconstruction the three fireplaces were restored and are still functioning.
